Challenging stereotypes and changing lives using the transformative power of fashion. That’s what Fashion is for Every Body is all about.
Our programs change the way our participants see themselves and are seen by others. The relationship to fashion can be about your own worth. You can find your voice and transform your life when you find your clothes.
Through our projects we discourage self-segregation and encourage inclusion and interactions with other models, fashion designers, stylists, hair stylists, and makeup artists.
Annual Runway Show
We use adult models of all ages, sizes and physical abilities along with professional, sample-sized models in a high-fashion production wearing local designers and brands. Our runway reflects the diversity of life in a beautiful parade of fashion.
Our video interviews feature models and designers at various stages during their journey with us discussing their expectations, experiences and evolution as a result of our programs. We also have behind-the-scenes and full fashion show runway footage.
Our photo shoots take place four times a year. We pair a designer with a few of our models, add hair and makeup, a photographer and venue. The result is an editorial shoot that highlights designer clothing in an unexpected, beautiful manner.
Kimmie Jones Adaptive clothing pattern award
Named after one of our most important models, this award is given to one designer a year to create an adaptive clothing pattern. That pattern is then available for custom order in a range of sizes, which offers people with disabilities fashionable clothing options.
“The [2018 runway] show featured 32 models — including a dozen professionals — ranging in age from 18 to over 60, sizes 00 to 28 and of varying physical abilities.
They showcased original, personalized looks by designers A Lady of the Lake, Eric Adler, Black by Maria Silver and Any Old Iron. The show’s inclusivity “is not done anywhere else, as far as I know.” “The future of Nashville is inclusive,” Searcy said. “We all belong here …That’s what we’re all about.”
We are 100% donor and sponsor funded, which means we rely on you to fund and staff our programs. Because we are a 501(c)3 organization based in Nashville, Tennessee all donations are tax-deductible.
